This November 10th, we are encouraging our UPMC Children’s Hospital staff to wear a UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation branded superhero cape in celebration and in recognition of the many heroes that make our hospital so special.
From our strong patients facing illnesses and injuries, unstoppable parent advocates, and world-changing researchers, to our compassionate staff and life-saving doctors, there are superheroes abound.
Get yourself a cape and a patient one too!
With your $25 donation, you can either choose to receive a cape or donate a cape to a patient that is waking up in the hospital on Cape Day.
On Thursday, November 10, wear your cape at work in honor of our UPMC Children’s heroes!
Post your Cape Day photos on social media on November 10 to show your support and use the hashtag #CapeDayCHP. (Please follow UPMC social media guidelines and don’t post photos of patients.)
Receive an adult sized cape that you can proudly wear on Cape Day.
A youth sized cape will be delivered to a patient waking up in the hospital on Cape Day.
Make a donation of any amount in support of Cape Day. No capes will be received/distributed.
Make a donation of $25 or more to receive a branded cape which you can wear proudly on November 10 – Cape Day. All UPMC Children’s staff that have a branded cape are allowed to wear their cape to work.
Choose whether you want to GET an adult sized cape for you or choose to GIVE a youth sized cape to one of our inpatients on Cape Day. Not sure which to do, for a $50 donation, you can do both. We will send you a cape and deliver a cape to a patient on Cape Day 2022!
Don’t think you can pull off wearing a cape? That’s ok, you can instead choose to give a cape to one of our superhero patients staying with us in UPMC Children’s or you can make a donation of any amount to Cape Day and not receive anything in turn.
Capes will be available for pick up and sale outside of the cafeteria at UPMC Children’s main campus on the following dates/times:
On Thursday, November 10th, we’ll celebrate Cape Day 2022 by wearing our capes to work in recognition of all the incredible UPMC Children’s superheroes!
At 2:30 pm, we’re asking those that are able, gather in the Atrium or in front of the glass windows overlooking the atrium for a group photo. This will be the largest gathering of superheroes UPMC Children’s has seen to date.
We’ll also spend the day at the hospital celebrating our superhero patients with fun programming on Dream Big Studios and handing out the donated capes on the inpatient floors. We’re sure to see lot of smiles!
**REMINDER: Employees may wear capes when possible, within their job role’s dress code. Remember to maintain infection control and patient safety; adhere to department-specific guidelines; maintain a clean and neat professional appearance; and observe any other dress code policy provisions. Your department director has the final authority regarding dress in your department. And, as always, wear your UPMC ID badge properly.
