UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility for its nationally ranked pediatric cardiology program coming in January 2026. The new facility promises to elevate the standard of care provided to cardiac patients and their families, achieving the care, treatment, and cures every child deserves.
The 50,000-square-foot, three-story addition to the hospital’s Lawrenceville campus is set to house the world-class Heart Institute, where physicians and staff are working to set the standard of pediatric cardiology care. UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation has partnered with UPMC to raise $31.5 million to support the construction of this cutting-edge facility.
The Foundation has made significant strides, contributing more than $18.7 million to date, thanks to the support of generous donors, like Acrisure with a pledge of $7.5 million and the late Mr. David V. Duchini, who designated $8 million to the Foundation in his estate. These lead donors, along with countless others, have set the stage for a healthy future.
UPMC Children’s provides care to more than 18,000 patients with congenital conditions each year. Families travel to Pittsburgh from around the world so their children can receive the expert care available in the Heart Institute.
With a reputation for excellence comes a profound responsibility to advance research, treatment, care, and ultimately, cures. Every child living with a heart condition or congenital heart disease deserves to receive the best care available and live a full, healthy life. Building a center of excellence is a critical step in transforming that vision into reality.
