A Doctor with a Dedication to Repair the World

Dena Hofkosh first arrived at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to complete her pediatric residency and fellowship, but it soon became her professional home for a 40-year career.

She evaluated countless children with developmental challenges and shared both difficult news as well as hope with their families. She also had a passion for medical education and, as the pediatric residency director, oversaw the professional development of over 700 pediatric residents at UPMC Children’s.

Understanding the Power of Philanthropy

Dr. Hofkosh was a leader in advocating for philanthropy for UPMC Children’s. Under her leadership the Department of Pediatrics and the Office of Faculty Development committed to supporting the success and fulfillment of faculty members at every career stage.

As a leader who understood the impact a philanthropic gift could have, Dr. Hofkosh ensured the investment in faculty education continues in perpetuity by establishing the Dr. Dena Hofkosh Endowed Fund for Faculty Development at UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation through a gift in her estate. Her philanthropy helped to ensure that the culture of faculty development she championed so vigorously during her career and life would continue for future generations.

Celebrating Dr. Hofkosh’s Legacy

We celebrate Dr. Hofkosh’s dedication to UPMC Children’s, the children she helped, the faculty she supported, and so much more. Her legacy lives on.

If you would like to follow in Dr. Hofkosh’s footsteps and leave a legacy of your own, designate UPMC Children’s as the full or partial beneficiary of your will, retirement, brokerage, or bank account. Or, consider a distribution from an IRA or donor-advised fund.

Your gift is at the heart of patients’ care, ground-breaking research, and tomorrow’s innovations that will impact generations to come. And letting us know we’re in your plans will allow us to plan ahead, seize arising opportunities, and offer greater care and assistance to every sick and injured child that needs help—continuing Dr Hofkosh’s dedication to repair the world.
